Ufology

A word—maybe two.

This is actually yesterday’s BWE, but I wanted to give our interview with Aly Busse first prominence, hence a double-dose of BWE today.

And lest readers find these toothsome words merely entertaining, I recently had the opportunity to use “omphaloskepsis” in an email exchange with a friend who was lamenting her navel-gazing state. This proves my theory that whenever you meet a word for the first time, you’ll soon encounter opportunities to use that word yourself and begin to notice it being used elsehwere…

Today’s Best Word Ever is ufology: the study of unidentified flying objects.

Here’s a newer word that landed around 1959 and demanded: “Take me to your dictionary!”

The urologist looked up and decided that studying ufology would be out of sight!
