I love to read, write, and edit. These days, I mostly write poetry and works for children. My favorite books are Where the Wild Things Are, by Maurice Sendak,* and Great Expectations, by Charles Dickens. A few of my favorite poets: Horace, Donne, Dickinson, Bishop, and Larkin. Over the years, I’ve worn everything from newsboy cap to fedora as a writer and editor. Today, I’m managing editor of the quarterly journal Academic Questions. I also adore critiquing children’s writing—particularly poetry and picture books. I studied American poetry, French, and Latin at the University of Pennsylvania and graduated magna cum laude with a BA in English. Today, I’m working on a creative writing MFA in poetry with an emphasis in formal verse at Western State College of Colorado. I aspire to create stories and poems with Flannery O’Connor’s power, Ray Bradbury’s imagination, Mo Willems’s pithy empathetic humor, and a hobbit’s zeal for hearth and home. I live with my family in glamorous New Jersey and look forward to becoming good friends with an octopus. |
